Serial # 6032677 Body # 56J-K7 3223

This is how it should end up (Colors may change)

It still has the original interior, be it ever so humble

This is a group of the starters.

We got it home

Look at all the instruments she has

Good old Packard engine Serial # K1622

Water pump wasn't much good

She's in the garage

Dash pad is going to need a little work Huh?

Started stripping inside

Floors are shot

NOW WE START ON THE ENGINE WORK

FIRST IS TO FIND THE STARTER AND GET IT TURNING

BOUGHT NEW RADIATOR HOSE BUT THEY SENT THE WRONG ONES AND HAD TO BE REORDERED

KEEP AN EYE ON STUDEBAKER INTERNATIONAL WHEN YOU ORDER FROM THEM

MORE FUN.  THE EXHAUST SYSTEM HAD A LEAK ON THE LEFT SIDE

manifold extension.jpg (46116 bytes) exh heat valve.jpg (69412 bytes) exhaust pipe.jpg (60311 bytes)

I decided to check out the ignition switch and get rid of the additional starter button.

ign sw 3.JPG (24645 bytes) ign sw 1.JPG (15989 bytes)

It was kind of tight in there.

Working on the back brakes now and having a hard time getting the left rear drum off.

After fuel pump was rebuilt I lost spark when the starter switch was released.  The ballast resistor opened up on me.

Now it was time to check out the generator and voltage regulator, and they worked.

August 27, 2007

Here we go again with the Hawk in it's new home.

Now I have to review old photos to see where everything goes.  It's going to be a fun trip.

August 28, 2007

Started cleaning up a few car parts in the work area and gathering all of my documents so I can come up with a plan and proper sequence before I proceed.

August 30, 2007

First minor project is to build a temporary dash with all the goodies on it so I can finish putting everything in working order.

I also found out that all of the locks were frozen solid, and that the ignition switch wasn't happy with the key I had.  I spent last night fixing these little problems.  Somewhere between removing the ignition switch from the car and installing it in the temporary dash I misplaced four nuts.  I had more but sure wonder what I did with the nuts when I took them off.

September 2007

I have suspended work on the Studebaker, and not certain when I will resume.
