Children/Hero ProgramsClayton Collyer (Clark Kent), Joan Alexander (Lois Lane), Julian Noa (Perry White), Jackson Beck (Narrator), Dan McCullough (Announcer), and Bill Hoffman (sound effects). "Look Up in the sky! It's a bird, It's a plane, It's Superman. The series started on radio in 1940 and ran daily on MBS from 1942 until 1951. The 15 minute serial started in 1938 on WGN in Chicago. In the beginning "Captain Midnight" was simply an undercover name for Jim "Red" Albright, who regularly piloted cargo and passengers. As an undercover agent, Albright was trying to gather information on a gang of criminals. He was constantly trying to stop the plans of the evil Ivan Shark and his daughter Fury Shark. Shark remained Midnight's nemesis throughout the length of the radio run. This show was one of the early series to offer premiums for the young listeners. All the premiums had to do with the "Secret Squadron".
A varied cast supported CBS' most acclaimed children show. It started as The Adventures of Helen and Mary in 1929 and ran until 1934 when it became Let's Pretend, which ran until 1954. They brought fairy tales alive with the various characters being voiced by the cast.
